The <\/span>Domaine de la Tuilerie<\/b> is a small family farm nestled in the heart of <\/span>Bas-Armagnac<\/b>, the renowned terroir of \u201csables fauves\u201d. <\/span>Colette Remazeilles<\/b>, third generation at the head of the estate, raises 2 hectares of Baco grapes there to produce amazing Armagnacs in her wood-fired still.<\/span><\/p>\n

For the very first edition, the amateur jury consisted of Pietro Caputo<\/strong>, Bertrand Atlan<\/strong>, and Nicholas Barker<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

This <\/span>1984 Armagnac<\/b> from <\/span>Domaine de la Tuilerie<\/b> was selected by the jury for its rich complexity and balance. Nicholas found the nose \u201clovely and warm,\u201d like an \u201cold cigar box\u201d and the palate \u201cthick, oily, and dark fruity like old cognac\u201d with an \u201camazing\u201d mouthfeel. Pietro noted \u201cdark plum\u201d fruits and reminiscent rum notes – specifically some old rums from Guadeloupe and even Diamond from Guyana. Matured in a very small, old wood-fired still then a wet cellar, this Bas-Armagnac has developed deep, intriguing layers described by Pietro as \u201ccomplexity, oiliness with the wood, without the astringency.\u201d Bertrand claimed this Armagnac \u201cchecks all of the boxes\u201d with a nose that is \u201cdeeper, darker, and more complex\u201d and gives off rich \u201cblack cherry, exotic fruit\u201d notes.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
