Domaine La Prenellerie, located on the clay-limestone hillsides of the Gironde estuary, has been producing Bons Bois Cognac since 1972. Frédéric Billonneau continues his father’s commitment to sustainable agriculture by beginning a conversion to organics in 2015.
Why the stork on the front label? This migratory bird temporarily calls Domaine La Prenellerie home each year. Frédéric fondly describes how he shares the vines and the surrounding land with these birds when they stop by.

For the second edition, the amateur jury consisted of Nicolas Guého, Shane Pearlman, and Sten Spans.
This Lot 83 Cognac from Domaine la Prenellerie was selected by the jury for its high drinkability, balanced and well-composed nature, and its rich aroma and flavor profile on orchard fruit, cherry, and dried plums. Shane says the Cognac really “smells great” and picks up a unique note of dark chocolate malt balls (which he used to eat at movie theaters back in the day). He agrees with Sten’s remark that cherry is a dominant note. Sten immediately picks out the forest-y notes, saying this Cognac makes him imagine an orchard in the Black Forest. He praises how “pleasing and balanced” it is and that the nose matches the palate. Nicolas, the jury’s diehard rum enthusiast, gets aged stone fruit eau-de-vie, dried raisins, and claims this Cognac is “a little bit like an Armagnac vibe.” Harmonious, balanced, and drinkability were words that came up several times over the course of the selection.
The jurors agreed it was an utterly drinkable spirit – hallmarks of mature Bons Bois Cognac. Don’t miss this rare opportunity to experience a Lot 83 Bons Bois Cognac hand-selected by our enthusiastic, amateur spirits fans.
